International Anti-Corruption Day
December 9 · Level 9 · #257 of 2238

International Anti-Corruption Day reminds the world that bribes and abuse of power hurt both economies and people's trust in each other. It calls for fair rules in governments and in business.
How it is celebrated: there are lectures, school and student contests, open talks with lawyers and media campaigns. Many organisations use the day to remind staff of their rules on honest work.
The UN Convention against Corruption was opened for signature at a conference in Mérida, Mexico, in December 2003, and the General Assembly chose 9 December as the day to mark it.
