Information and Press Day in Kyrgyzstan

Information and Press Day recognises the journalists, editors, publishers and other media workers of Kyrgyzstan. It celebrates the work behind the news: finding stories, checking information and helping audiences understand events.
How it is celebrated: newsrooms congratulate colleagues, professional awards are presented and media workers meet to discuss their craft. Such gatherings also offer space to reflect on reporting standards and changes across the industry.
The date recalls the first issue of the Kyrgyz-language newspaper Erkin-Too in 1924. Its name means “Free Mountains”.
