Disobedience Day

Disobedience Day

A tongue-in-cheek day that nudges you to look at everyday rules and ask why they exist. It is about harmless rebellion, not about breaking the law.

How it is celebrated: people allow themselves small, innocent liberties, like dessert before dinner, a new route to work, an unexpected outfit or a friendly challenge to a habit nobody remembers the reason for. A team can also pick one old unwritten rule and talk it through together.

The idea has a famous literary ancestor: Henry David Thoreau's essay, first published in 1849 under the title Resistance to Civil Government.
