Russian Traffic Police Day
July 3 · Level 4 · #1377 of 2238
Russia's traffic police have a day recognizing their work to make roads safer. Their responsibilities extend beyond enforcing traffic rules to preventing crashes, responding to collisions and helping people understand how to use roads safely.
How it is celebrated: officers receive congratulations and service awards, while veteran staff are also honored. Road safety activities and lessons bring practical advice to drivers and children.
The occasion traces its date to the establishment of the State Automobile Inspectorate in 1936. Its familiar Russian abbreviation, GAI, predates the name GIBDD.
