Diplomatic Service Workers' Day in Ukraine
December 22 · Level 6 · #1069 of 2238
This is the professional day of Ukrainian diplomats, the people who represent the country abroad, negotiate on its behalf and help Ukrainians living or travelling overseas. It is marked on 22 December.
How it is celebrated: the foreign ministry and embassies hold ceremonial meetings, send greetings and present awards. Colleagues remember veterans of the service and pass experience on to younger staff.
As early as 1918, under the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Hetmanate, Ukraine had its own embassies, including ones in Berlin and Vienna.
