Railway Workers’ Day
August 2 · Level 6 · #1040 of 2238

Railway Workers’ Day recognises the people who keep passengers and freight moving. Drivers, conductors, dispatchers, maintenance crews and many other specialists share the spotlight: even an ordinary train journey takes a considerable team effort.
How it is celebrated: railway organisations present staff awards and honour retired colleagues. Concerts, family events, heritage displays and visits to railway facilities may accompany the celebrations where public access is available.
There is no single worldwide date for the occasion. Russia, for example, observes it on the first Sunday in August, so its calendar date shifts from year to year.
