Cat Herders Day
December 15 · Level 7 · #728 of 2238
A joke holiday for anyone who has ever tried to organise people with no intention of lining up. To herd cats is to take on a task that seems close to impossible.
How it is celebrated: coworkers thank the person who gets everyone onto the same call, joke about leading a team and trade silly cat pictures.
The idiom "herding cats" is a staple of office English, used for managing stubborn, independent-minded people. For anyone who has ever scheduled a team meeting, it is practically a job description.
