Armed Forces Day in Armenia
January 28 · Level 10 · #173 of 2238

Armenia's Army Day honours soldiers, veterans and everyone who guards the country's borders. It falls on 28 January, because on that day in 1992 the young republic set up its defence ministry.
How it is celebrated: people bring flowers and wreaths to the Yerablur military pantheon, units hold ceremonies and award ceremonies, and meetings with veterans take place.
Yerablur is a hill near Yerevan where Armenian soldiers killed in the Karabakh wars are buried.
