February 11 · Level 2 · #1959 of 2238

Unani is a traditional system of medicine rooted in ancient Greek teachings and developed further in the Arabic and Persian world. The day honours the birthday of Hakim Ajmal Khan, an Indian physician who was one of its best-known champions.
How it is celebrated: in India, colleges and clinics of Unani medicine hold conferences, lectures and open days, with talks about medicinal herbs and ways to prevent illness.
Hakim Ajmal Khan was born in Delhi on 11 February 1868. He was also among the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia, a university in the Indian capital.
