World Lung Day
September 25 · Level 4 · #1401 of 2238

World Lung Day draws attention to respiratory health and to the diseases that make breathing hard. It is a nudge that clean air and healthy lungs matter to everyone, not just to people who already have a cough.
How it is celebrated: doctors and health groups run talks, breathing tests and stop-smoking campaigns, while schools and offices try breathing exercises and group walks. Many people simply head outdoors and take a few deep breaths.
The first World Lung Day was held on 25 September 2020. Human lungs contain hundreds of millions of tiny air sacs, and we take roughly twenty thousand breaths a day without thinking about it.
