World Letter Writing Day

This day nudges us to put pen to paper and write a real letter, the kind that arrives in a mailbox instead of a notification tray. It is an informal observance with no official status, built around the simple joy of personal correspondence.

How it is celebrated: people write to friends, relatives or colleagues, send postcards and sign up for pen pal exchanges. Some pick out nice stationery for the occasion and walk the envelope to the post box themselves.

Handwriting is individual enough that forensic document examiners can use it to help identify an author. A handwritten letter carries a bit of its writer that a typed message never does.
