Gamer Day is for everyone who loves video games, whether they play on a console, a PC or a phone. It is a nice excuse to remember that games have grown into a real part of modern culture.
How it is celebrated: friends set up online tournaments and couch co-op evenings, dig out old consoles, or simply block off a night for the game that has been waiting in the backlog for months.
Tetris was created in 1984 by Alexey Pajitnov while he was working at a computing centre of the Academy of Sciences in Moscow. It went on to become one of the best-known games ever made.
