Ukraine Aviation Day
August 29 · Level 8 · #497 of 2238

Ukraine Aviation Day honours the people who keep aircraft flying, from pilots to engineers and ground crews. It brings together civil and military aviation, aircraft designers and manufacturing staff. The occasion falls on the last Saturday of August.
How it is celebrated: colleagues exchange congratulations, professional achievements receive recognition and aviation history takes centre stage. In peacetime, celebrations have also included aircraft exhibitions and demonstration flights.
Antonov's An-225 carried the name Mriya, meaning “dream” in Ukrainian. The aircraft was originally developed to transport the Buran spacecraft, giving this giant cargo plane a direct connection to space exploration.
