World Food Day
October 16 · Level 10 · #171 of 2238

World Food Day puts access to enough safe, nutritious food in the spotlight. It connects what is on our plates with farming, natural resources and the people whose work brings food to the table.
How it is celebrated: schools run food education activities, communities organise charitable projects, and organisations host discussions about hunger, farmers' livelihoods and reducing food waste.
The date is also an institutional birthday: the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations was founded on 16 October 1945.
