Armenian Press Day

Armenian Press Day honours journalists, editors and the history of Armenian-language publishing. It highlights the press's public role and the way newspapers and magazines have connected Armenian communities across borders.

How it is celebrated: media workers receive congratulations and awards, newsrooms revisit their history, and professional gatherings address press freedom, verification and responsibility to readers.

The first Armenian periodical, Azdarar, began publication in 1794 far from Armenia. It was produced in Madras, the Indian city now known as Chennai.
