World Eating Disorders Action Day
June 2 · Level 3 · #1710 of 2238

A day to say clearly that eating disorders are serious illnesses, not a whim or a diet gone too far. It aims to spread understanding and help people reach treatment sooner.
How it is celebrated: doctors, therapists and support organisations hold online events, share reliable information and publish recovery stories. People are encouraged to talk to loved ones kindly, without remarks about looks or weight.
These conditions include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder. Anorexia is among the psychiatric illnesses with the highest death rates, which is why early help matters so much.
