World Down Syndrome Day

World Down Syndrome Day champions the rights and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. It puts everyday opportunities in focus: learning alongside others, finding work, building friendships and having a say in your own life.

How it is celebrated: self-advocates, schools and community groups hold talks, share personal stories and run awareness events. Bright, mismatched socks offer an easy conversation starter about accepting differences.

The date carries a message: the 21st day of the third month represents the three copies of chromosome 21 associated with Down syndrome.
