Winnie-the-Pooh Day
January 18 · Level 3 · #1750 of 2238

Winnie-the-Pooh Day falls on the birthday of the English author A. A. Milne, born on 18 January 1882. It is a good excuse to revisit the Bear of Very Little Brain and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood.
How it is celebrated: people reread Milne's stories, watch Pooh cartoons, hold teatime with plenty of honey and give each other teddy bears.
Pooh was named after a real bear: Winnipeg, a Canadian black bear who lived at London Zoo. Army veterinarian Harry Colebourn had brought her from the city of Winnipeg, and Milne's son Christopher Robin loved to visit her.
