Ukraine's breast cancer awareness day brings attention to early detection, access to treatment and support for people affected by the disease. It also makes room for conversations about the emotional strain that a diagnosis can place on patients and their families.
How it is celebrated: healthcare providers and charities arrange awareness campaigns, consultations and educational meetings. Pink ribbons appear in campaign materials as a familiar symbol of solidarity, while specialists share reliable information about breast cancer.
Men can develop breast cancer too, although it is much less common in men than in women. The disease is therefore not exclusively a women's health issue.
