Military Signaller's Day in Russia
October 20 · Level 6 · #947 of 2238
Russia's Military Signaller's Day recognises the personnel who keep its armed forces connected. Their work allows units and commanders to exchange information and coordinate their actions, whether during routine service, exercises or military operations.
How it is celebrated: military units hold ceremonies, congratulate communications personnel and present awards. Veterans meet former colleagues, while museum displays trace the equipment and skills used to maintain military communications over time.
Long before radio, military messages could travel through flashes of light or movements of signal flags. Today's digital networks tackle the same basic challenge: getting a clear message to the right person in time.
