Journalists' Day in Ukraine
June 6 · Level 8 · #451 of 2238
Journalists' Day in Ukraine recognizes the people who gather news, check claims and help the public understand events. It celebrates journalism while drawing attention to press freedom and the responsibility that comes with informing an audience.
How it is celebrated: newsrooms congratulate colleagues, professional organizations present awards, and media workers discuss their craft. Reporter safety and remembrance of journalists killed while working are also important parts of the observance.
Journalism has another date on the international calendar: World Press Freedom Day falls on 3 May, separate from Ukraine's June professional celebration.
