Constitution Day in Thailand
December 10 · Level 6 · #1100 of 2238

Constitution Day is a public holiday in Thailand marking the country's first permanent constitution. It came after the changes of 1932, when the absolute monarchy gave way to a constitutional one.
How it is celebrated: it is a day off, with official ceremonies, and people pay their respects to the constitution at the Democracy Monument in Bangkok. Schools and offices often use the occasion to talk about civic rights.
The Democracy Monument on Ratchadamnoen Avenue in Bangkok carries the holiday's emblem: a gilded copy of the constitution resting on an offering bowl.
