Human Rights Day
December 10 · Level 9 · #248 of 2238

Human Rights Day reminds us that dignity and freedom belong to everyone from birth. It marks the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
How it is celebrated: there are classroom lessons, debates, exhibitions and campaigns by rights groups, and the UN picks a fresh theme each year. The Nobel Peace Prize is also presented in Oslo on this date.
The Declaration was adopted in Paris on 10 December 1948, with 48 countries in favour, none against and eight abstaining. It has been translated into more than 500 languages, making it the most translated document in the world.
