Swap Ideas Day

Swap Ideas Day nudges people to share a thought instead of sitting on it, because an idea usually gets better once someone else has poked at it. It suits offices, classrooms and kitchen tables alike.

How it is celebrated: people run quick brainstorms, trade sticky notes with half-formed plans, or agree that everyone brings one fresh idea to the next meeting.

The word brainstorming was popularised by advertising executive Alex Osborn, who described the method in his 1953 book Applied Imagination.
