Star Trek Day
September 8 · Level 7 · #787 of 2238
Star Trek Day is a fan party for Gene Roddenberry's science-fiction saga. It marks 8 September 1966, the evening the original series first aired on American television.
How it is celebrated: fans binge their favourite episodes, put on Starfleet uniforms, argue about whose captain is best and greet each other with the Vulcan salute.
The first episode to be broadcast was "The Man Trap", even though it was not the first one filmed: the pilot episodes had been shot earlier.
