March 16 · Level 9 · #410 of 2238
This is the day of the Republican Guard, formed in the early years of Kazakhstan's independence. The Guard protects top officials and key state sites, and it takes part in the country's most formal ceremonies.
How it is celebrated: units hold ceremonial parades and lay flowers, and the best guardsmen receive awards. Commanders and families congratulate both serving soldiers and veterans.
The honour guard is known for its crisp drill and dress uniform, and it turns out to welcome foreign guests at the head of state's residence.
