Republic Day in Armenia
May 28 · Level 9 · #371 of 2238

Armenia's Republic Day remembers the founding of the First Republic in 1918. It marks the return of Armenian statehood and honours the people who defended it during a turbulent chapter of the country's history.
How it is celebrated: official ceremonies, concerts and flower-laying bring people together. The Sardarapat memorial is a prominent gathering place, recalling the battle that preceded the republic's declaration.
The First Republic lasted only until 1920, yet its red, blue and orange flag returned as the national flag of independent Armenia.
