Press and Media Workers' Day in Uzbekistan
June 27 · Level 7 · #867 of 2238
Uzbekistan honours journalists, editors, publishers and other media workers. The holiday recognises the people who gather news, check information and help readers, listeners and viewers make sense of events.
How it is celebrated: formal gatherings, award presentations and congratulations bring editorial teams together. Professional achievements are recognised alongside the contributions of experienced journalists.
The date recalls the first issue of Taraqqiy, a newspaper published in Tashkent in 1906. Its name means “Progress,” and the publication holds an important place in the history of Uzbekistan's national press.
