Parachutist Day in Russia
July 26 · Level 9 · #390 of 2238
Parachutist Day in Russia is an informal celebration for people who parachute as a sport, a profession or a personal passion. It recognises the training, skill and mutual trust behind a moment that can look effortless from the ground.
How it is celebrated: flying clubs and drop zones hold gatherings, demonstrations and sporting events. Jumpers exchange first-jump stories, with any actual skydiving dependent on suitable weather and safety conditions.
A modern sport parachute does more than slow a fall: its wing-shaped canopy generates lift, allowing the jumper to steer and plan a controlled landing.
