Panama Independence Day

Panama’s Independence Day recalls 28 November 1821, when the country declared its break from Spanish rule. Panama then joined Gran Colombia.

How it is celebrated: there are official ceremonies, school parades with bands and drums, and street festivities. Houses and streets are decked out in flags.

Panamanians call November the “month of the homeland”, since it packs in several national holidays, including Separation Day from Colombia on 3 November and Flag Day on 4 November.
