Russian Air Force Navigation Service Day
March 24 · Level 7 · #894 of 2238
This observance honors the Russian Air Force's navigation service. Its specialists plan routes and support accurate flight navigation, helping crews reach a particular place at a particular time. Much of the precision seen in the air begins with careful preparation on the ground.
How it is celebrated: aviation units congratulate navigators, recognize distinguished personnel and meet veterans. Commemorative gatherings explore the service's history and pass experience on to younger aircrew.
A navigator's route is more than a line on a map: its preparation brings together wind, altitude, speed and fuel calculations before the aircraft takes off.
