This is an unofficial day for anyone who shares a kitchen, a fridge and a queue for the bathroom. It is a good excuse to thank the people who live under the same roof as you.
How it is celebrated: flatmates cook a joint dinner, put on a movie night or simply wash everyone's dishes without being asked. Some swap small joke gifts, like a labelled mug or a sticker saying that yoghurt is theirs.
Sharing a home is popular with students and young professionals in many countries, and shared flats are often where long friendships begin.
