Lighting Professionals' Day
July 11 · Level 1 · #2081 of 2238

This informal professional day recognises the people who shape lighting for film, television, theatre and concerts. Their work directs our attention, establishes a scene's mood and helps make an invented world feel convincing.
How it is celebrated: colleagues exchange greetings, share projects and post glimpses of rehearsals or life on set. It is a chance to thank the crew members whose contribution audiences rarely see directly.
A gaffer and a lighting designer are not interchangeable job titles. In film production, the gaffer leads the lighting crew and helps realise the cinematographer's lighting vision.
