Kite Flying Day
February 8 · Level 4 · #1404 of 2238

A day for anyone who loves wind, open sky and bright shapes flapping overhead. You are never too old to launch a kite.
How it is celebrated: families and friends head to parks, fields and beaches with shop-bought kites or homemade ones built from paper and sticks. The winner is not whoever flies highest but whoever has the most fun.
Kites were invented in China more than two thousand years ago, and people used them both for signalling and for play.
