International Rescue Cat Day
March 2 · Level 5 · #1121 of 2238

This day celebrates cats that were taken in from shelters or the street, and reminds us that many more are still waiting for a home. It is also a nudge to help animals without owners.
How it is celebrated: owners share the stories and photos of how their rescued cats found them, donate food and litter to shelters, volunteer, or offer a foster spot to a cat in need. Some people finally decide to adopt.
People and cats have shared life for a very long time: on Cyprus, archaeologists found a human burial with a cat laid beside it about 9,500 years ago.
