Olympic Day
June 23 · Level 10 · #52 of 2238

Olympic Day invites everyone to get moving, try a sport and explore the values behind the Olympic movement. Medals and personal records are optional: participation is open to people of different ages and abilities.
How it is celebrated: national Olympic committees and sports organisations arrange public runs, introductory sessions and meetings with Olympians. Activities combine opportunities to exercise with lessons about friendship, respect and fair play.
The date marks the founding of the International Olympic Committee in 1894, two years before Athens hosted the first modern Olympic Games.
