International Day of Helping the Poor
December 19 · Level 8 · #600 of 2238

The International Day of Helping the Poor is an informal date for remembering people who live in need and doing something concrete for them. It is a reminder that help does not have to be big to count.
How it is celebrated: volunteers and charities collect warm clothes and food, serve free meals and put on charity concerts. Many people simply donate some money or an afternoon of their time.
It should not be confused with the official UN observance: the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty falls on 17 October.
