International Emo Day
December 19 · Level 3 · #1640 of 2238
International Emo Day is for fans of a music subculture built on honest feelings and personal stories. It is a day for black band tees, skinny jeans and songs you can sing word for word.
How it is celebrated: fans throw listening parties, replay favourite albums, swap playlists and laugh about the haircuts they had as teenagers.
The name "emo" comes from "emotional hardcore", a scene that took shape in Washington, D.C., in the mid-1980s, and Rites of Spring is often named among its first bands.
