International Civil Aviation Day

This day highlights how much civil aviation matters for travel, trade and ties between countries. It marks the signing of the document on which the rules of international flying are built.
How it is celebrated: airlines, airports and schools hold conferences, open days and meetings with pilots, air traffic controllers and engineers, and people in the industry get their thanks.
The Convention on International Civil Aviation was signed in Chicago on 7 December 1944, and ICAO, the agency created under it, has its headquarters in Montreal.
