Draw a Bird Day
April 8 · Level 2 · #2010 of 2238
Draw a Bird Day invites you to pick up a pencil and sketch something feathered, even if you have not drawn since school. It is a good excuse to look properly at the birds outside your window.
How it is celebrated: people sketch sparrows in the yard, copy pictures from field guides, make quick drawings in the park and show off the results. Skill is optional, and a wonky owl counts just as much.
One of the most famous bird artists, John James Audubon, published The Birds of America between 1827 and 1838, with 435 hand-coloured plates.
