Russian Air Fleet Day
August 16 · Level 7 · #729 of 2238
Russian Air Fleet Day celebrates the people behind aviation, from pilots and cabin crews to aircraft designers, controllers and ground staff. It is a chance to recognise how many different skills come together before an aircraft leaves the runway.
How it is celebrated: aviation organisations present awards and arrange gatherings for staff and veterans. Museums and airfields may offer exhibitions, tours and flying displays.
The occasion falls on the third Sunday in August. Russia also has a separate Civil Aviation Workers' Day on 9 February, giving civil aviation its own place in the calendar.
