Raspberry Jam Day
August 16 · Level 2 · #1828 of 2238

Raspberry Jam Day is an informal excuse to open a jar of summer flavour or make a fresh batch. It celebrates home preserving and the family recipes that often travel from one kitchen to another with only a few handwritten notes.
How it is celebrated: people make jam, swap recipes and share it over tea. Pancakes, cakes and a plain slice of bread all make suitable companions.
A raspberry is actually a collection of tiny fruits called drupelets. Each juicy segment contains its own little stone, which explains all those seeds in a spoonful of jam.
