Russian Officers' Day
August 21 · Level 8 · #633 of 2238
Russian Officers' Day recognises serving and former officers, with an emphasis on leadership, duty and responsibility for others. It is also an occasion to remember the mentors and colleagues who shaped their service.
How it is celebrated: veterans' groups and community organisations hold reunions, concerts and wreath-laying ceremonies. Fellow officers exchange greetings, while meetings with veterans bring different generations together.
The name sounds official, but the observance began as a public initiative. It is not one of the Russian Armed Forces' state-established professional holidays.
