Mother's Day in Russia
November 29 · Level 6 · #981 of 2238

Mother's Day in Russia is a day to thank the women who raise children and hold a family together. It falls on the last Sunday of November.
How it is celebrated: children give their mothers flowers and handmade cards, and families gather around a festive table. Schools and kindergartens hold concerts and drawing exhibitions, and many towns run charity events and meetings with large families.
The holiday was set up by a presidential decree of Boris Yeltsin signed in 1998. Because it always lands on a Sunday, its calendar date changes from year to year.
