Day of the Defence Sports and Technical Organization Worker in Kyrgyzstan
November 29 · Level 7 · #884 of 2238
This is a professional day for the staff and instructors of the Defence Sports and Technical Organization of Kyrgyzstan. It honours work that combines sport, technical skills and preparing young people for service.
How it is celebrated: colleagues hold ceremonial meetings, award the best workers and instructors, and pay tribute to the organization's veterans. Sports contests, such as shooting matches, are often part of the programme.
Defence-sport societies like this one across former Soviet republics trace their roots to the Soviet DOSAAF, a voluntary society that supported the army, aviation and navy.
