Sociologist's Day in Russia
November 14 · Level 1 · #2036 of 2238
Sociologist's Day in Russia recognizes the people who study social life, relationships and collective behavior. Their work goes well beyond opinion polls: interviews, observation and data analysis all help explain how societies function and change.
How it is celebrated: universities and research organizations host conferences, lectures and professional gatherings. Researchers discuss findings and methods, while colleagues congratulate teachers, students and practicing sociologists.
The occasion has a Paris connection. Its date refers to the opening of the Russian Higher School of Social Sciences in the French capital in 1901.
