Russian Address and Reference Service Day
October 15 · Level 2 · #1915 of 2238
This is a professional holiday for people who keep address records and issue reference information from them. Post offices, courts, emergency services and ordinary people trying to find someone all depend on their work.
How it is celebrated: teams congratulate colleagues, hand out certificates of thanks, and veterans of the service swap stories from the job.
Address bureaus operated in Russian cities well before the revolution, where anyone could ask where a particular person lived.
