World Stray Animals Day
August 15 · Level 8 · #635 of 2238
On this day people think about stray cats and dogs and how to help them find a home and a safer life. The main idea is simple: preventing the problem beats rescuing animals later.
How it is celebrated: shelters hold open days, volunteers run charity fairs and adoption events, and vets offer spay, neuter and vaccination drives.
Animal vaccination protects people too: according to the World Health Organization, dogs cause almost all human rabies cases. So a vaccinated street dog is good news for the whole neighbourhood.
