Global Running Day
June 3 · Level 9 · #266 of 2238

Global Running Day welcomes experienced runners and anyone curious about taking their first steps. Held on the first Wednesday in June, it encourages people to enjoy moving at their own pace, without a required distance or finishing time.
How it is celebrated: clubs organise open runs, friends meet in parks and families try short routes together. Solo outings count too; joining in need not involve an organised event.
The celebration grew from National Running Day in the United States, launched in 2009, and became a global initiative in 2016.
