World Pie Day

World Pie Day is an informal celebration of a dish made for sharing. Sweet or savoury, baked from a family recipe or assembled as a kitchen experiment, a pie gives people a reason to gather around the table.
How it is celebrated: home bakers swap recipes and share slices with friends, relatives or colleagues. Bakeries may offer specials, and tasting several fillings can turn an ordinary tea break into a small celebration.
This January occasion is separate from March's Pi Day. Both attract pie lovers because the English words pie and pi sound exactly alike.
